Dr. Ulla Britt Larka is a Board-Certified Podiatric Surgeon with over twenty years of experience.
Originally from the Hudson Valley, NY, Dr. Larka is a first- generation American from a Scandinavian family. She received her Bachelor of Science at Wilkes University in Pennsylvania and her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Her postgraduate training included three years in initial intensive internal medicine at University of Medical and Dental of New Jersey; Cooper Hospital, in Camden, New Jersey; and then completing two years of podiatric surgical residency at Greater Texas Education Foundation in Harris County, TX.
Following her residency, Dr. Larka took over Dr. Marion Filippone’s practice in the Montrose and Upper Kirby District. She was able to focus on the patient’s experience and treatment through all of the different hospital systems of the Medical Center while treating foot and ankle conditions. Dr. Larka is certified in Hyperbaric Medicine, and the treatments and procedures to save limbs has become the heart of her practice.
Dr. Larka is actively participating in research and serves as Primary Investigator for Clinical Trials Networks. Dr. Larka is also a founding member of Women Leading Medicine.
Her most beloved job is being the mom of her twin boys. Spending time with her family on the gulf coast recharges her reinforces her belief that a day spent on the beach can often cure more than any doctor can prescribe.
