Is Leg Pain a Symptom of Vein Disease?

Leg pain is one of the most common symptoms of venous disease. Failing vein valves prevent blood from flowing in the correct direction, causing the blood to pool with increased pressure in the veins. In addition to leg pain, other uncomfortable symptoms include a heaviness, tiredness, cramping, restlessness, itching, numbness and coldness, skin discoloration, or skin ulcers. Patients who are experiencing leg pain with one or more of these symptoms are encouraged to set up a consultation with a StrideCare vein specialist.

Does Chronic Venous Insufficiency Cause Leg Pain?

Leg pain is a symptom of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). CVI occurs when the valves in the leg veins are damaged or weakened, leading to blood pooling in the legs and increased pressure in the veins. This can result in various symptoms, including aching, throbbing, or cramping pain in the legs, particularly after standing or sitting for long periods of time. Most patients report that elevating their legs at night helps with these symptoms.
